      This is an invitational tournament for any CalChess members. Specific rating requirement for Barber & Denker tournaments.

      The winner of the Denker Qualifier will be representing Northern California at the Denker Championship.
      The winner of the Barber Qualifier will be representing Northern California at the Barber Championship.

  • Participants

    This is an invitational tournament for any CalChess members:

    Denker Qualifier: any player in Grade 9-12 with rating over 2000+;
    The winner of the Denker is the official Northern California representative in the Denker Tournament of High School Champions (more info: Denker Championship)

    Barber Qualifier: any player in Grade K-8 with rating over 1800+;
    The winner of the Barber Qualifier is the official Northern California representative in the Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions.

    Barber & Denker
    1 section for players with USCF rating over 1800 for the Barber Qualifier.
    1 section for players with USCF rating over 2000 for the Denker Qualifier.
    April 2019 supplemental rating will be used for both Barber and Denker Qualifier.


    $650 guaranteed for both Barber and Denker Qualifier Tournaments:
    $300 to CalChess Representative (player must attend respective National Tournament in order to receive prize)
    2nd - $200, 3rd- $100, 4th - $50 to others.

    Entry Fees:
    For all players for any tournament: $59
    Late fee: After 4/2 +$15

    2019 April supplemental and TD discretion is used to place players.
    Both Qualifiers are FIDE rated.
