Prizes & Schedule for Qualifiers

• Honor of Representing CalChess

  The winner of the qualifiers will represent CalChess in the National tournament of Champions:
  • Denker Qualifier represents CalChess in the High School Section (9-12)
  • Barber Qualifier represents CalChess in the Middle School State Section (6-8)
  • Rockefeller Qualifier represents CalChess in the Elementary School State Section (K-5)

• Prize Fund $300-900

  1. If the National Tournament of Champions is online then:
  1. Each qualifier section's winner will be awarded $100 cash after they represent CalChess on or around July 31 – August 1, 2021.
  2. If the National Tournament of Champions is OTB (in-person) then:
  1. The top N players in each section of the online qualifiers (including ties) will be invited to compete in an OTB qualifier.
  2. Each OTB qualifier section's winner will be awarded $300 cash after they represent CalChess on or around July 31 – August 1, 2021 at the Crown Plaza Philadelphia-Cherry Hill.

• Schedule & Time Control

  • Registration closes at 7:30am
  • Rounds: 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm
  • Time Control: 5SS x G/45 +5
  • Sections:
    KG – Grade 5 rated 1600+
    Grades 6 – 8 rated 1700+
    Grades 9 – 12 rated 1800+

Prizes & Schedule for State Championships Warm-ups

• Prize Fund NNN BA€ (approx.)

  1. BA€ 6 for every point earned
  2. BA€ 6 for top players in rating class
  3. Minimum BA€ 3 for every participant.

• Schedule & Time Control

  • Registration closes at 7:30am on the tourney date!
  • Rounds: 9am, 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm
  • Time Control: 5SS x G/25 +5

  • KG – Grd 5 rated 800-1599
  • KG – Grd 5 rated under 800
  • Grd 6–8 rated 900-1699
  • Grd 6–8 rated under 900
  • Grd 9–12 rated 1000-1799
  • Grd 9–12 rated under 1000

  1. Fees:
     1. Entry Fee: 37 for Qualifiers | 33 for Warm-ups
     2. Late Fee: +10 after 5/25-31 | +20 on 6/1-3 | +30 after 6/3
     3. Play-up: +17
  2. Ratings: We will use the higher of the OTB and online rating (as of June 2021 supplement).

• After Registering

  1. Check entries to confirm registration; Contact us to report any errors
  2. Add @bayareachess.com to safe senders (to receive orientation emails).
  3. Reconfirm the email address and other information in your profile.
